Welded Spiral Cages

Rebars & Mesh, Inc. has recently installed a new Schnell GTM machine which automatically forms and robotically welds rebar spiral cage assembled. For weldability, the GTM machine utilizes A706 low-alloy deformed rebar. The steel used in the GTM machine produces spiral cage assemblies with a minimum yield of 60,000 psi and a tensile of 90,000 psi.


Our GTM machine can produce continuous welded spiral cages 8" to 5' in diameter and up to 60' long. The spirals can be fabricated from #3, #4, #5 or #6 rebar. The vertical bars can be #6 through #11. The pitch is variably controlled and ranges from 2" to 19". Square and rectangular spiral cage assemblies are available with leg dimensions from 9" to 1'6". If corrosion protection is required, the entire spiral can be hot-dipped galvanized after fabrication per ASTM A123.


Machine built and welded, the spiral cage assembly has consistent dimensions every time. The welded spiral cage assembly holds its rigidity through field handling and placement and can be handled at the site without loss of dimensional integrity.
